About Us

Imagine commissioning an original piece of art for your wedding… maybe an image of you and your betrothed at a special event or when you proposed. You could opt for an image of a location that means the world to you both, your favourite album cover/band/film… or just your favourite image… of anything!

Then imagine if this unique piece of hand painted artwork arrives at your wedding on the boot of the classic French icon that is the Citroen 2CV.

Lindsay Hort is a multi-published and one of the world’s leading automotive artists who specialises in hand painting Citroen 2CV boot lids for car enthusiasts, collectors and discerning clients with an eye for something unusual. Since establishing Wreckless Abandonment Art five years ago, Lindsay has created bespoke ‘boot-lid’ pieces for clients in the United States, Australia, Hong Kong, Belgium, Switzerland, France, Sweden, Jersey and all four corners of the UK. However, with less than 100 original pieces in circulation, you can be assured that you are one of a very small group of privileged people to own one of Lindsay’s creations… whether you want to sport your painting on the back of your car or display it on a wall..

As a fellow Citroen 2CV enthusiast, as well as running a wedding car business, I have teamed up with Lindsay in order to be able to offer couples the chance to own a truly unique piece of auto-art and have the presentation form part of your special day:

You will be chauffeur-driven in the car and arrive, to the amazement of your guests, with the fantastic portrait displayed on the boot.

After the ceremony, and at your wedding breakfast, we will remove the boot-lid and mount it on a display stand for everyone to see – you may even like to offer your guests the chance to sign the back of the piece with a Sharpie.

About The Product

We take genuine, original Citroen 2CV boot lids, repair any damage, sand them down and then prime them. As original car parts that are at least 30 years old, there may be some imperfections/dents etc. but this just adds to the charm of the finished product!

Once primed, Lindsay applies layers of acrylic paint to achieve the desired results.

Once the painting has been completed, it is coated with two layers of lacquer and left to cure. The ‘boot-lid’ can then be fitted to a car after 48 hours.

Each ‘boot-lid’ is supplied with care instructions and, provided they are cared for as per the instructions, the paintings are safe to be displayed on the back of a car (or indeed anywhere outdoors) in most conditions*.
Each ’boot-lid’ comes supplied with picture wire ready to be hung on a wall.

*exposure to direct sunlight resulting in high temperatures for long periods of time should be avoided.
